::
What is EPP?
EPP is "Expanded Polypropylene foam. EPP foam doesn't dent or
break. It has a "spongy" quality to it, so on impact it
compresses and pops back to shape.
:: Is EPP hard to work with?
EPP Kits are very easy to build when compared to traditional wood
models.
:: Why EPP over Wood?
EPP has qualities that makes the trials of learning to fly much easier.
Many beginners have spent hours building a traditional wood glider
only to have them disintegrate after one flight. EPP gliders can bounce,
crash and fly again. Sometimes without any repair work.
:: Do EPP pilots actually crash into each other?
EPP characteristics allow for the exciting flight experience of "Combat".
Pilots do try to crash into each other in order to knock the other
out of the air. This is truly one of the most exciting aspects of
EPP flyers. This of' course is usually a voluntary activity.
:: Do EPP planes ever break?
Yes. You can break an EPP plane. However the fixing of an EPP plane
usually involves glue and tape. Sometimes a pilot can be flying within
minutes of a bad crash.
:: Can you Thermal EPP Gliders?
Many EPP gliders are made for fast slope flying, however the Gentle
Foamy Trainer EPP plane does have the ability to thermal. Of' course
the extra weight of the EPP does effect the lifting ability when compared
to a Balsa plane.
:: What do I need to get started?
You will need several things before you can start flying. You will
need a glider kit, radio transmitter, gear for the plane such as servos,
receiver, and battery. Your first plane usually costs more because
of the start up cost of a beginner pilot. Check out our LINKS page
to look at hobby stores that provide radios and gear.
